“Simply Follow Jesus-He has called You” Gospel Reflection for Sunday’s message on February 5, 2023

Two Pictures
1. “Could you not watch with me for one hour?” (Matthew 26:26-36)
- We tend to over complicate life. Do you tend to fill up your life with busyness so that you don’t have that one hour?
- The heart of Jesus at that moment was wanting friendship at the hour of greatest need.
2. “For my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” (Luke 19:41-46, Isaiah 56:7)
- God desires relationship, friendship, and time with you AND He desires relationship, friendship, and time with everyone on the globe.
- Let’s not miss the moment, let’s not miss the hour.
Isaiah 54:2-8
Is what we (I) are doing adequate enough to reach people and to build the Kingdom of God in this location?
What God is saying is, “Keep plugging away, I am going to enlarge what you are doing.” (Vs 2-3)
What is going to enlarge the impact we (you) have on our community? It will be the Spirit of God that moves through us (you) into the community.
(Vs 4) We have all not been a Christian. We all have a former life before Jesus.
- The enemy likes to remind us of who we were and get us to forget who we are.
- You know your story, where God has brought you from; know that God will take that story of redemption and use it to enlarge the Kingdom of God.
Isaiah 55
Verses 12 and 13 are promises – What transpired in verses 1-11 so that 12 and 13 can become a reality?
Are those things possible for every single human being?
If yes, then what stops us from actually doing what we read in Isaiah 55:1-11?
Are we a house of prayer? Are we a people who are seeking, listening to, and being obedient to God?
Isaiah 56:1-8
God is a God for you and God is a God for others. God loves you and God also loves others.
God wants a new generation to start in our community.
Why? So, His name can be known and worshipped where it is not yet known and worshipped.
Every gospel infused conversation (and action) could lead to a new lineage of faith. That should make us excited to get out of bed every morning.
It is about us BUT not only about us.
God has called us out to live Christ like lives for others.
